In October 1919 Takeshi Yamashita founded the company we know today as Olympus, specialising in the manufacture of microscopes and thermometers. 100 years along the line, Olympus’ history of excellence continues with a range of award-winning mirrorless cameras and high-quality lenses.

Reaching the grand old age of 100 years is obviously something that should be celebrated. And while Olympus won’t be receiving a birthday card from the Queen, we would like to mark our centenary by celebrating with fellow centenarians in a unique way.

We are commissioning a group of Olympus photographic Ambassadors to take portraits of centenarians born in 1918 and 1919, with the results collated into a celebratory book and accompanying exhibition at our London art gallery.

If you know someone who is approaching this momentous landmark and think they would be willing to have their portrait taken professionally to become part of this amazing project, please fill in the form below

We aim to take a wonderful portrait that captures them at their best, and if appropriate, feature a quote from them that might shed light on their secret to longevity – or simply some words of wisdom garnered over their lifetime.

Do you know or are you someone who is or will shortly be 100 years old?
If so, we’d love to hear from you! Please fill out your/their details below to include them in this incredible project and have a professional portrait taken by one of our Olympus Ambassadors!

THE SMALL PRINT: While every effort will be made to include all applicants in the project, due to geographical and resource considerations, we cannot guarantee that everyone will be selected for a portrait shoot or that those photographed will be included in the final book/exhibition. There will be no payment for participating in the project although we will consider reimbursement of reasonable expenses incurred by the participants and their carers where agreed. Any expenses must be made known to Olympus upon selection for the project and written approval provided upon invoicing. Most portraits will be taken in the participant’s residence to ensure minimum fuss and inconvenience. All participants will receive a print of their final portrait as thanks for participating in the project. By taking part in the portrait project, you assign and grant Olympus, irrevocable and unrestricted right to use and publish photographs from the photoshoot for use on our website(s) or for any other medium, and also the right to alter the photographs without restriction, and to copyright same. Both the photographer and model will be credited for each image featured unless requested otherwise. See olympus.co.uk/company/en/privacy-notice for details of our data policy. If you have any queries regarding the project please contact press.office@olympus.co.uk
