5 STYLING TIPS THAT WILL MAKE YOUR HOLIDAY PHOTOS REALLY POP
If there’s one thing we’ve taken away from the Olympus x Topshop summer school, (http://www.olympus-imagespace.co.uk/5-things-we-learnt-at-olympus-and-topshops-stylish-summer-school/) it’s that great outfit composition is *everything* when it comes to taking the perfect photo. So surely that principle applies more than ever when it comes to our holidays, ie. the biggest photo-taking opportunities of our entire year?!
Yes, of course making amazing holiday memories is très, très important. But capturing those moments for everyone to see and guaranteeing Insta-glory is, in 2015, equally so. Our holiday outfits need to live up, but we say there’s no need to plan them meticulously in advance, nor rack up huge excess baggage charges by taking everything you’ve got in your wardrobe ‘just in case’. With a few careful styling tips, you can make your outfits work harder and be holiday picture perfect – with minimal effort.

1. Colour Balance Your Case
So we just said you don’t need to go too hard on the planning, but if the first rule of any great #OOTD photo is composition, then you need to consider a basic colour balance throughout your suitcase. When packing, start with your staples and outfit ‘cores’ (we’re thinking denim shorts, sundresses and lots of white cottons) then add your colour accents and ‘specials’ into the mix (hello new hyper rainbow Aquazurra espadrilles and ALL the tassels). Having a rough balance in mind beforehand will make it way easier to get dressed when you get there.
2. Show Some Skin
Hooray, you’re tanned! This is the time to recognise how great your skin / legs / other bodily assets are, and to show them off a bit. SS15’s key zones to expose are the shoulders and décolletage – every fashion blogger worth their stats has been posing up a storm in a flattering off-shoulder top or dress.
3. Choose Natural Fabrics
Any raffia accessory you choose will come with an in-built, unspoken ability to make your look more, well, holiday-ish. These are game-changing pieces when it comes to taking a holiday snap as they instantly signify that you are indeed on an exotic holiday and everyone back home knows to take heed of your sartorial symbol. On a more technical note, a straw clutch bag will work beautifully with pretty much any outfit, lighting or backdrop.
4. Don’t Forget The Beauty Details…
Those #FromWhereIStand, feet in the ocean snaps you were going to take? They’ll look a hell of a lot better with a popping coloured pedicure. On trend right now; seafoam green, rose pink, or mustard yellow polishes.
5. Pick Your Perfect Spot
Wherever you go on holiday, you’re likely to discover a wealth of ideal scenic backdrops offering the most gorgeous array of picture opportunities. It’d be really stupid to stand around taking selfies in your hotel lobby the whole time. Experiment with all the settings your Olympus PEN camera has to offer and make the most of the colours of the beach, the different styles of architecture, the graffiti in other languages… Get out there and explore the world. And if there happens to be a monument nearby that totally goes with your outfit, so be it, right?
