BOUDOIR WORKSHOP AT THE FORBURY HOTEL
BY ROB PUGH
This Boudoir Photography Workshop was our inaugural event at the Forbury Hotel in Reading. The venue proved to be an inspired choice, simply an amazing place for such an intimate shoot. A spectacular room with decor to amaze, a king sized bed and a sofa so big it might have seated all the days attendees simultaneously – there was also access to one of the hotel’s landings and full use was made of its features throughout the day.
Our model, the fabulous Anita De Bauch, posed expertly while Pro Photographer and Olympus Ambassador Rob Pugh demonstrated four key lighting setups from natural night with reflectors, flash, LED lighting with the iceLights from Westcott and finally tungsten battery lighting. Throughout the workshop he used a tethered Olympus OMD E-M1 so settings and the final results were instantly viewable on a large computer screen. An OM-D E-M10 was also employed for further shooting throughout the Hotel. Workshop participants bought with them a wide range of cameras from various manufactures, but the Olympus fans got access to a wide range of M.Digital Zuiko lenses – even the brand new 40-150mm 1:2.8! All are welcome at these events, whatever the make and model of camera they use, however attendees also get the opportunity to try Olympus Micro Four Thirds equipment if they wish.
Our next Boudoir Advanced Workshop in February we will be using off-camera flash (with multiple units) to create atmosphere.
