DECEMBER STREET WALK
WITH ROB PUGH
Some of pro photographer Rob Pugh’s most popular workshops are street walks, undertaken in his role as an Olympus photographic ambassador.
Though there is often an early start, introductions and initial briefing take place in the welcoming warmth of the nearest coffee shop, before small groups of enthusiastic photographers head out for a stroll.
Whilst the starting point can vary, for the last street walk of 2014 the Tate Modern was selected. As well as being architecturally iconic, the prestigious gallery offered the chance for attendees to try out some shots in low light on their Olympus cameras. Advice was dispensed on matters both technical and creative.
The enthusiastic group then made tracks over to the Millennium Bridge and the Christmas market on the South Bank, before heading on to nearby Borough Market. As well as the opportunity to grab a bite to eat, the hustle and bustle offered plentiful opportunities to take more pictures.
The walkabout ended at London Bridge Station, with everyone in attendance in agreement that the day has been thoroughly worthwhile. “Going by the other photographers’ images that I’ve seen, we all came away with some stunning shots,” concludes Rob Pugh.
