The Olympus sponsored After Nyne Gallery in Holland Park, London, recently hosted a unique exhibition featuring a collaboration between Godfather of Rock Music Photography, Gered Mankowitz and Royal Portrait Painter, Christian Furr.

As a teenager, Mankowitz was asked by Andrew Loog Oldham to photograph the Rolling Stones. At the age of 28, Her Majesty The Queen chose Christian Furr to paint her portrait – the rest is history!

The collaboration combines reworked versions of Mankovitz’s iconic images of rock and roll luminaries such as Jimi Hendrix, The Rolling Stones, Marianne Faithful and Kate Bush, combined with Furr’s unique painting style to create new works that completely reinterpret the originals.

The exhibition’s busy private view was attended by none-other than ex-Rolling Stone and rock legend Bill Wyman, along with many other invited guests and luminaries. Additionally there was a lunchtime ‘Audience With’ event hosted by Sky/MTV presenter Kylie Olsson and attendees included the renowned social commentator Peter York.
