Ellie Cartwright is a filmmaker with a passion for all things adventure. Be that filming action sports in far flung places or travel content on the road less travelled. Starting her career in broadcast television she soon realised her feet were too itchy to be able to stay in one place for long periods of time (a long period of time being a fortnight for Ellie) so she made it her mission to find a way of doing the two things she loves – travelling and filming. Passionate about telling stories for short-form video content Ellie has now filmed content for Olympus for the last two years, travelling to Greece, Madeira and the Amazon rainforest in Ecuador! When she’s not on awesome Olympus adventures she runs her own television production company called Wanderlust Action Films which specialises in filming adrenalin fuelled action sports events and branded content all over the world.
The OM-D E-M1 Mark III is a great adventure filmmaker’s camera; with its inbuilt stability it’s perfect for hanging around on a rock face, the 4K timelapse is fantastic for showing off sunrise on top of a mountain, and the 120fps is perfect for epic slowmotion water shots. It’s the perfect bit of kit for the adventure filmmaker on the go – who wants to always be ready to capture the action!
This year Ellie has teamed up with Olympus to run the Wanderlust Action Film Academy – an immersive video training retreat in the heart of the Welsh Mountains. Aspiring filmmakers will be taught videography skills on the OM-D E-M1 Mark III, both on land and in water. Participants will be taking part in adventure activities like rock climbing and stand up paddle boarding and then learning how to film the action.
