On a crisp, November morning, we invited 9 lucky DSLR users to try their hand at street photography, using a compact mirrorless camera with a big reputation: the Olympus OM-D E-M1 Mark II.

Based around Bath’s Christmas market, attendees were provided with 4 subjects to try and capture photos in the spirit of. But these weren’t the only challenges – the afternoon also included a gruelling (but rewarding) climb up 212 steps for a Bath Abbey Tower Tour, allowing the participants to shoot some cracking aerial views!

1. Shoot the most festive shopping display
2. Shoot an aerial view of the market
3. Shoot your favourite example of festive food
4. Shoot an abstract image of the Christmas lights.

The winner would be the participant to produce the most consistent series of images in terms of creativity, composition and exposure.

After a quick run through of the camera’s functions and controls, the attendees were let loose into the market, armed with an E-M1 Mark II and a shiny new SD card, ready to fill with fantastically festive photos!

Rest assured, wherever the group ended up, our team of Olympus experts were never too far behind, ready and waiting to answer any technical questions that came up.
