Join us at Bermondsey Project Space for an exciting new exhibition and book launch by David Bowie’s official tour photographer; Denis O’Regan.
O’Regan’s photographs of Bowie span nearly two decades, but those taken in 1983, when he accompanied David for nine months on his most successful ever tour, are from the period when O’Regan and David became firm friends. O’Regan (armed with his treasured Olympus OM-3!) was given unprecedented access, and his photographs capture not only David’s unique stage performances but candid, unguarded offstage moments, or as Denis puts it: “Catching another side of the enigma”. It’s a never seen before glimpse into 9 months of life on the road with David.
Denis will also be launching his new book, Ricochet : David Bowie 1983. The exhibition will be available to view at Bermondsey Project Space from Tues 19th to Sat 23rd June, between 11:00-18:00.
“Denis O’Regan’s portraits of David Bowie in Ricochet : David Bowie 1983 provide a candid insight into the private and personal side of this iconic figure. Bypassing the clichés of rock photography O’Regan succeeds in getting behind the mask to offer us something unique and revealing.”
