THIS EVENT IS NOW FULLY BOOKED
Join Olympus Mentors Geraint Radford and Rob Cottle for a full-on feathery extravaganza at Gigrin Farm, one of the best places to capture images of stunning red kites (the national bird of Wales) in flight, along with buzzards, ravens, crows and more!
An amazing and inspiring story, the red kite was on the brink of extinction but thanks to a local coalition and a few pairs of birds, most from a single female, the red kite has managed a spectacular comeback.
This exclusive workshop will begin with a talk on what you can achieve during the event, along with many hints and tips on technique, camera set up and behaviour to look for (the kites, not Geraint!). There will be many opportunities to capture this amazingly photogenic bird as once the feed is on the ground they will keep coming for hours, wave after wave, giving you a great chance to hone your ‘BIF’ skills. There are also many smaller birds in the farm grounds that you will have the opportunity to capture whilst you wait for the main event.
Attendees will have sole use of the farm’s tailor-made photography hides, which provide the best position for achieving great looking images and watching these majestic birds carry out their acrobatics at close quarters.
Bird-in-flight photography is probably one of the trickiest wildlife photography disciplines to master, but with practice, guidance and a few tricks of the trade, it’s easily attainable and very rewarding. The knowledge picked up from Geraint and Rob on this exciting workshop will also surely improve your general photography skills – if you can capture these feathery missiles you can pretty much capture anything!
